Two more long!fics that I've posted to the archive at Buffy Fiction Archive:

Keeper of the Book (AtS/BtVS, AU from AtS "Lineage" Xander, Wesley, Anne, Spike, others)
http://archive.shriftweb.org/archive/37/keeperof.html

and its sequel, Another Door
http://archive.shriftweb.org/archive/37/anotherdoor.html

Keeper is already posted at Bugger This, but it wasn't at BFA, and I wanted the link to that story from "Another Door," so it's now there too.

You may have asked yourself, "How the hell would I ever find Misha Collins if he were in a whole group of people dressed as Santa Claus? HOW?"

Look for the guy wearing a tree skirt, of course.

Ah, Misha. You are one of a kind, always.

Today so far:

Posted my Remix fic. \o/

Also added a bunch more fic to the Buffy Fiction Archive, and have just 2 long ones and 1 shorter one left to add. I'll get to that later, because I have some household crapola to do.

Here are the new fics I just added (some long ones now in one file for the first time):

The Fifth Portent of the Apocalypse of Bees (Post-Chosen, Giles/Xander)
http://archive.shriftweb.org/archive/37/thefifth.html

Character (AU offshoot of Earshot, Wes/Faith, smutty and dark)
http://archive.shriftweb.org/archive/37/character.html

Copper and Moonlight (the Mimi and Rodolfo Remix) (S2 BtVS, Xander, Giles, Willow. Remix of Antennapedia's "Substitute"; angsty, see warnings)
http://archive.shriftweb.org/archive/37/copperand.html

How Tantor and Tarzan Became Friends (Post-Chosen, Demolition!Xander/Illyria)
http://archive.shriftweb.org/archive/37/howtantor.html

Recalled to Life (Tantor sequel: Wes, Buffy)
http://archive.shriftweb.org/archive/37/recalledto.html

Pentimento: 52 Things That Never Happened to Dawn and One That Probably Will
http://archive.shriftweb.org/archive/37/pentimento52.html

bitter/sweet (S6 BtVS, post OMWF, Giles, Xander)
http://archive.shriftweb.org/archive/37/bittersweet.html

Stay (AtS S2, post Thin Dead Line, Cordelia/Gunn)
http://archive.shriftweb.org/archive/37/stay.html

Throwing the Stork (Post Chosen ficlet set in future of the Clevelandverse, Xander/Faith)
http://archive.shriftweb.org/archive/37/throwingthe.html

A very ficcy sort of day

Posted by [info]nwhepcat on 2009.07.11 at 21:23
Did two additional read-throughs on my Remix fic, and tweaked it a bit more. Depending on tomorrow's mood, I may read it through again and maybe do a few last minute tweaks, but I've decided it gets posted at noon.

Stomach was mildly weird, so I had myself a low-key day, going through fics to see what I've actually archived and what I haven't, and getting some of them up on the Buffy Fiction Archive in preparation for getting them up on my own page. Things have been very quiet over at the BFA, but there have been some tweaks to the upload system, which now will process things in HTML. Which makes archiving things a LOT faster -- except for drabble stories, where I use asterisks instead of HTML during the writing process because my word count program counts HTML tags as words. So I just finished fixing a novel-length story in drabbles, which took forever to format correctly. The rest should go a lot easier, I think. It'll be nice to get my long stuff up there where people who hate the chapter-by-chapter routine can go looking for them. Another nice new change to the archive -- a preview function which saved my ass several times during the hideous reformatting project. It used to be you had to have the story files emailed to you, which might alert you to some problems, but all your coding (via *'s) were in the txt file state, so wasn't so easy to see when you'd made a giant mistake. Now it is. Shrift: so very awesome.

So I hope to get more up soon, and get them gathered on my page before too much longer, but for now here are the ones I've gotten up today:

Ashes (Faith, Wes AtS AU, dark): http://archive.shriftweb.org/archive/36/ashes.html

Like the White-Winged Dove (Faith, Castiel, BtVS/SPN crossover): http://archive.shriftweb.org/archive/36/likethe.html

Waiting for the End of the World (Faith, Castiel, BtVS/SPN crossover): http://archive.shriftweb.org/archive/36/waitingfor.html

Living on a Prayer (Faith, Castiel, Sam, Dean BtVS/SPN crossover): http://archive.shriftweb.org/archive/36/livingon.html

The Geometry of Innocent Flesh on the Bone (Xander, Sam, BtVS/SPN crossover) http://archive.shriftweb.org/archive/36/thegeometry.html

Things We Never Talk About (Xander/Larry, Xander/Faith BtVS S3 AU): http://archive.shriftweb.org/archive/36/thingswe.html

Codes!

I've got Dreamwidth codes to share. Anyone?

It is awesome, and if a technopinhead like me can get all my old LJ posts archived there, anyone can do it! Comments screened, send me your email address if you want one.

Beyond the rain
Summary: Someplace where there isn’t any trouble. Do you suppose there is such a place?
Prompt: medea_aries: What if, in Ruat Caelum, when Lex sends the message about being kidnapped by the Justice League, Batman does go ahead and handles it himself?
Warning: character death; otherwise PG.

For the Turn Left meme, jackycomelately said: “In Incarnadine, if Jonathan had been the one to drive Lex home (and hopefully comfort him).” I’m also calling this for “relative values” for bingo, because Lex deserves to be part of somebody’s family. PG in itself, but it’s about the aftermath of Red K exposure; Red K makes Clark horny and Lex has a nonstandard definition of “consent,” so there you are.

Switching fic gears, so this didn't come so easily, but I'll get there.

I made the fix in the last section (on ms. so far, not on the post) but substituting "somewhere out in the woods" for specific mention of Sequoia, since it's nothing but mountain range along Oz's side of things.

Inspired by Doctor Who's "Turn Left:" Pick one of my stories and tell me a point in the tale that you'd change. Something tiny (e.g. "and then Fay chose silver glitter instead of gold") or big (e.g. "and then Rose was arrested instead of Jack") and I'll tell you how that one difference would have altered the course of the entire story.

...anyone who's itching for a Mystery Spot!Sam crossover with Buffy might want to take a peek at my first SPN fic, if you haven't seen it already. It's a sequel to my remix of Liz Marcs' "Revelations," "The Ballad of Charles Whitman." I had her very kind permission to revisit the Xander that emerged from her story and my remix, and plunk him down in the SPN sandbox.

Finished first draft of Remix fic today and emailed out to beta readers. Thought of title and subtitle too. Considering I was banging my head all day Friday, and had company Sat-today, I'm rather amazed.

Schadenfreude, with wit: “Last month, Nevada Sen. John Ensign had to resign his Republican leadership post to spend more time with his sex scandal…. Like Sanford, Palin snuck away to visit a distant land and fell in love with a siren she cannot bring home or leave behind. Her fatal attraction was the national spotlight.”

Further on Palin, did she seriously say that she didn’t want to be lame duck because it’s not enough fun for her (or, generously, for the state)? She does know that term limits mean that lame duckishness is a feature of the system, right? Who’s supposed to be running the show in such circumstances? I am baffled.
